Wish List Wednesday

I'm sure we all have a shopping wish list. Here are just a few of the items on mine, although the list could definitely keep going! Hopefully this will be a every Wednesday list that will show you some of the things I'm longing after. Hopefully they will make their way into my closet soon! :)

Just click the item and it will take you to the website to get a closer look. Happy shopping y'all!

Happy Cinco de Mayo!

I started Cinco de Mayo a little early... Yesterday I had nachos for lunch and guacamole with chips for dinner....plus I just had a small snack of chips and salsa today. Oops. But I could eat this stuff everyday if you would let me.

With a pop of those bright Mexican colors, this shirt is one of my favorites! It is also a bit out of my comfort zone but I've received so many compliments. I saw some fellows bloggers have it and I just couldn't resist.

What are your Cinco de Mayo plans? Hopefully they involve some margaritas and guacamole! :)

Dining Room DIY

When Dustin and I bought our house in December, I couldn't wait to get started on decorating. Of course, I had the whole thing planned out with help from Pinterest obviously. Which is where I got the idea for the dining room. Dustin, a little hesitate when I mentioned the color black, wasn't fully on board but let's be honest, I'm too hard headed for this not to go my way. It look a lot of work and convincing but we did it! And I have to say, it looks amazing. I've received so many compliments on how it turned out and Dustin likes it too. :)

This was my inspiration. Sorry for the poor quality. It was a screen shot to show my dad (who did all of the woodworking) what I wanted.

This is what we started out with.

This is what we started out with.

The first step was getting the black paint on top and the white paint on the bottom portion. We also had to decide on the measurements of how big the squares were going to be so we could determine how far down the black paint needed to be along with how long each piece coming off of the square would be. This was a daunting process and took a lot of trial and error with writing measurements down, remeasuring, and repeat. Luckily I had my dad (the handy-man) there to help. And a shout out to my hubby for helping paint against his will! :)

Doesn't the steak look yummy! :) At this point, we have the white and black paint up and are taking the nail gun and level to every piece of wood and getting it on the wall. My dad had pre-made the squares so those were whole when we put them up. Disclaimer: old homes do not have flat walls. :) We ran into some issues with the wood laying flat against the wall but hey, it's character.  And unfortunately those curtains didn't stay....and I'm still on the hunt for something to replace them! If you have any ideas, I'd love to hear them!

Thanks Snapchat! Once all of the wood was up, we got back to painting. We then filled in the holes where the nails are and finished with a second coat of paint.

And the final result! Although it took several weekends and week nights to complete, it was well worth it and I think it turned out amazing!
